Auditions for
The Railway Children
are being held on 21st & 23rd of July
We need at least 7 adults and 7 children/youngsters to cast this wonderful classic.
Audition times: Children 6:30-7:30pm, Adults 7:45-9pm.
Auditions are open to members and non-members. There are some small parts if anyone hasn't been on stage before and wants to try, a good way to start.
Rehearsals will start on September 3rd (read through date) and will be on Monday and Wednesday evenings 7:30pm start.
Performance dates 13th-15th November.

Notes re characters in "The Railway Children"

Main characters
· Albert Perks. Married to Mrs Perks, with 4 children: John, Alfred, Edith & baby. Station porter/ticket collector.
· Roberta (Bobbie) Waterbury, aged 15ish. Oldest child in family. Observant, resourceful & determined.
· Peter Waterbury, aged 12ish. Middle child. Adventurous, energetic, impulsive. Interested in trains before move to the Three Chimneys Cottage.
· Phyllis (Phyl) Waterbury. Youngest child in family. A bit naïve & accident prone.
· Mother: Mrs Waterbury. Poet & write of children's stories. Speaks French quite fluently.
· John Perks, aged 14ish. Oldest child. Also interested in trains. Wants to be a train driver when grown up.
· Alfred Perks, aged 12ish. Middle child.
· Edith Perks, aged 9ish.
Medium-sized roles
· Dr Forrest. Kind and accommodating.
· Mr Szczepansky. Russian writer. Imprisoned in Russia. Speaks no English but a little French. Looking for
his wife and children.
· Old Gentleman. Wealthy. Travels on train regularly. Grandfather of Jim.
· Jim: "hound". Injured in railway tunnel. Boards at local grammar school.
· Mrs Perks.
Minor roles
· Mrs Walker/Woman.
· Man 1 and Man 2/District Superintendent.
· Father: Mr Waterbury.
