Things We Do For Love Act II Scene 1 The

SYNOPSIS

Barbara owns a house divided into three flats. Gilbert, a postman, lives in the flat beneath her which we do not see. The flat above Barbara's has recently been vacated and Barbara has promised it to her old school friend, Nikki, who needs a place to stay while she and her new fiancé, Hamish, fix up their house.

The play begins with Gilbert lending a hand in sorting out the empty flat the evening before Nikki and Hamish are due to move in. Nikki arrives and the old friends catch up. Gilbert, it turns out, is fonder of Barbara than anyone imagined. Barbara and Hamish, meanwhile, find that though they can barely stand each other they are also drawn irresistibly to each other.

There are some very funny episodes  and  everyone's life is turned quite upside down. A bit melancholy, a bit bitter and very funny.
