Much Hadham Drama Group’s 25th Anniversary Celebration
Much Hadham Drama Group celebrated its 25th Anniversary in style on Saturday 23rd September with a black tie dinner incorporating a Much Hadham Awards Ceremony Murder Mystery. The Group invited all past and present members and patrons with their guests.
They were welcomed by Jem Deans, the current Chair
of the Group, who explained that things were going to
start to become a little confusing as he then
introduced to the stage a fictitious character, who, for
the remainder of the evening would be acting in the
role of Chair of the Group.
The confusion grew as other fictitious characters were
announced as nominees for the Best Actor Award. It quickly
became apparent that the winner was a hugely dislikeable
member of the Group who succumbed to poison during his
outrageous acceptance speech.
The other characters all had their reasons to want him dead, and they were all named as suspects. All of those present were then given the opportunity to interrogate the suspects, and by stretching the bounds of credibility, they could also interrogate the murder victim who reappeared as a ghost (one knock for ‘yes’ and two knocks for ‘no’).
The murderer was finally revealed and the table offering the most accurate deductions was declared the winner. This was all worked around a splendid dinner. The event was enjoyed by all and was a terrific way to celebrate a 25th anniversary.
In its 25th year Much Hadham Drama Group is enjoying continuing success with its recent productions. We currently hold the NODA Best Production Shield in the NODA East Area for its 2016 production of “Entertaining Angels”, which also picked up Best Drama and Best Technical Awards. In May 2017 the Group performed “The Ladykillers”, which proved to be a great hit with audiences and production team alike. We are now well under way in rehearsals for our next production “Great Expectations”. With a cast of over 30, this is a community project led by MHDG with friends and invited performers from the local community: another very ambitious production which is a hugely satisfying challenge to put on, and promises to be an impressive spectacle for our audiences.
