Great Expectations
It is with great regret that the committee of Much Hadham Drama Group has had to take the decision to cancel the production of “Great Expectations” on 16th, 17th and 18th November.
Jem Deans, who is the current Chair of MHDG, and has been pivotal in the production as organiser of Sound, Lighting and Special Effects, was taken very seriously ill during the first week of October and underwent heart surgery in a London Hospital. Whilst Jem is making a good recovery, he will not be able to contribute to the production any further for some time.
As Jenny King (the Director) said, “Jem’s unique method and experience of delivering spectacular sound and lighting is integral to “Great Expectations” and without this the play will lose both depth and quality.” All present at the committee meeting were concerned that to ask Jem to share his knowledge as an advisor would be both tiring and stressful for him at this time during his recovery.
The result of the committee's discussions was to decide to defer “Great Expectations” until next November 2018. We can hopefully reconvene the same cast, and start rehearsing again nearer to that time. We look forward to being able to present Jenny King's fantastic new adaptation at that time.
